Detailed Description: |
The Music Department at the University of San Diego, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, invites applicants for the position of Assistant (tenure-track) or Associate Professor of Choral Studies to begin in the fall of 2026. This is a full-time appointment. The successful candidate will be the director of the choral area, responsible for coordinating our select vocal program (the Choral Scholars), directing the Concert Choir, and providing leadership for the voice area. Additional duties will include assisting in department recruitment both on campus and in the community, maintaining an active creative and scholarly performance portfolio, and teaching additional courses that reflect the candidate’s expertise, as well as service to the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University. A secondary emphasis may also be considered, including but not limited to general music education, diverse vocal ensemble traditions, music technology, or music therapy.

Job Requirements: |
Candidates should hold a DMA in Choral Conducting, PhD in Music Education, or a terminal degree in a closely related field. ABD candidates will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates should also have college teaching experience, with other relevant teaching/conducting experience also considered.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
