Detailed Description:

This is a full-time temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of November 2027. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.

This role involves conducting outreach to veterans and their families, facilitating engagement with our mental health services, assisting with administrative and budgetary tasks, and providing peer support. as needed.  The ideal candidate will be a veteran and have firsthand experience with the challenges faced by the veteran community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Outreach and Engagement:

  • Develop and implement outreach strategies to connect with veterans and their families.
  • Build relationships with local veteran organizations, community groups, and other stakeholders to increase awareness of our services.
  • Host and attend community events.

Program Development:

  • Assist in the creation and execution of outreach programs, workshops, and events designed to promote mental health awareness and engagement within the veteran community.

Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the needs and interests of veterans within the clinic and the broader community.
  • Work to address barriers to accessing services and ensure that veteran voices are heard and valued.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, client interactions, and program outcomes.
  • Provide regular reports to clinic leadership on outreach efforts and impact.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure a coordinated approach to client care and outreach.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies for improving service delivery.

Administrative:

  • Track and monitor grant budget and expenses.
  • Process requisitions, purchase orders, and grant invoices.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all requests for allocation of grant funds and verifying availability of funds before submitting for budget approval.
  • Generates statistical, analytical, personnel, and financial reports for program budgets.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field. Relevant experience may substitute for formal education in some cases.
  • Experience: Must possess a strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by the veteran community. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in outreach, peer support,  community engagement, or marketing is preferred.

Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and engage effectively with veterans and their families.
  • Proficiency in using outreach tools and resources, spreadsheets, and other related software.
  • Empathetic, proactive, and committed to supporting the veteran community.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Posting Salary:

$28.00 - $34.50 per hour; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
