The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, is a diverse community of scholars who advance the teaching and study of religion with particular attention to fostering understanding of Catholic traditions. | Detailed Description: |
The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego seeks applications for a part-time instructor to teach the following courses for Fall 2026, in person.
· THRS 337, Catholic Faith and Interreligious Dialogue, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:15–10:35am; a brief course description can be found here
· THRS 337, Catholic Faith and Interreligious Dialogue, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:45am–12:05 pm; a brief course description can be found here
When applying, you may indicate interest in one or more of the courses listed. Please note specific days and meeting times. Part-time instructors will not teach more than 6 units (faculty load) per semester.
This position is included in the Non-tenure Track Bargaining Unit, and the successful applicant employee, subject to the terms of the College’s Collective Bargaining, will be a bargaining unit member and will be subject to the University’s Agreement with SEIU Local 721.

| Job Requirements: |
Minimum Qualifications: MA or equivalent in theology or related field. Expertise in Catholic theology, including Catholic theology of interreligious dialogue as it has been articulated in church documents from Vatican II to the current day. Ability to discuss a select social issue (e.g. nature, migration, reproductive technology, other) from the perspectives of at least four religious traditions, including the Catholic magisterium, and to facilitate respectful comparative analysis.
Preferred Qualifications: PhD or equivalent in theology or related field and expertise as described above.

| Posting Salary: |
Compensation for this position will be paid on a bi-weekly basis at a per-unit rate of $2,581-$2,659, commensurate with qualifications.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
