Detailed Description:

This is a full-time temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.

The CGEP Program Director will research, develop, plan, facilitate, and evaluate high-quality
professional learning programs for PK-12 educators in California. The Program Director will
work closely with CGEP staff, contractors, host sites and teacher leaders, Advisory Board
Members, and partners, as well as California Subject Matter Project staff at CSMP sites as well as University of San Diego/Jacobs Institute staff and departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain communications with CGEP Statewide Office, CGEP staff, Host Site Leaders,
Specialists, and Teacher Leaders to determine and develop professional learning
programs that serve the needs of PK-12 educators in global education.

  • Maintain communications with CGEP Statewide Office, CGEP staff, Host Site Leaders,
    Specialists, and Teacher Leaders to determine and develop professional learning
    programs that serve the needs of PK-12 educators in global education.
  • Pursue professional learning and partnerships in global education.
  • Provide information about CGEP in regional and statewide meetings and
    programs/events.
  • Plan CGEP programs/events in collaboration with CGEP SO and in alignment with
    approved Scope of Work under CSMP RFP/ACF.
  • Provide support for statewide CGEP programs and events, including Teacher
    Fellowship, annual Global Education Forum, quarterly Communities of Practice, and
    bi-annual Global Book Talks.
  • Develop annual work plan in alignment with budget allocations, CGEP goals and
    priorities, and global education framework.
  • Communicate regularly with CGEP Executive Director, CGEP Office Manager, and
    CGEP Leadership Team to ensure timely and responsive services to teachers, schools,
    and districts in global education.
  • In collaboration with CGEP Leadership Team, develop appropriate responses to State
    initiatives and requests of CSMP to support education goals and priorities for California
    (e.g., Ethnic Studies, Universal TK, SEL, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records that relate to grants, scope of work, budgets,
    expenses, program participants, surveys and evaluation, inventory, and program data.
  • Seek out and write grants, contracts, and professional presentations to further the work
    of CGEP in global education.
  • Attend all CGEP meetings, including CGEP Advisory Board meetings, in addition to
    CSMP meetings upon request (e.g., Lead Learn, Initiative Showcase, etc.).

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, International Studies, Geography, and/or History
  • 5-10 years teaching in K-12 education 
  • Professional Learning provider experience
  • Grant-writing experience 
  • Technology skills that include online communications, Google applications, and social media
  • Effective communication and literacy skills
  • Bilingual and culturally competent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in Education, International Studies, Geography, and/or History
  • Administrative experience in K-12 education school, district, and/or county office of education
  • International teaching, professional learning, and/or communications experiences
  • Experiences developing and facilitating online courses
  • Multilingual and globally competent
  • Willingness to travel abroad

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
