| Detailed Description: |
To assist and support, under the supervision of the Head Coach, the development and operations of the University of San Diego’s Women’s Volleyball team, an NCAA Division I program in the West Coast Conference. Duties include on-court coaching and scouting, administrative duties, and recruiting identification. Act as the liaison between the team and the marketing and communications department and the academics department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
On-Court Coaching and Scouting
- Supervision of players in a coordinated and planned program of practices and competition, with a concern for the players’ health and welfare, physical and psychological preparation.
- Assist with the organization and implementation of daily practices.
- Direct on-court coaching responsibilities (as assigned by the head coach).
- Assist with the development and improvement of player skills. Work with individual players before and after practice, when requested.
Administrative Duties
- Camp organization and logistics.
- Concur expense report filing.
- Equipment and apparel order, inventory, and organization
- Prepare end of the season banquet and awards.
Recruiting Coordination
- Assist in the identification and recruiting of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes for admission to the University with adherence to admissions and athletic department policies and procedures.
- Have a strong working knowledge of university athlete and how it is used as a recruiting tool.
- Maintain records of calls, contacts, and evaluations
- Unofficial visits – assist in coordination and planning
- Official visits – assist in coordination and planning
- Ability to create scouting video montages
- Chart opponents
- Utilize DataVolley and Volleymetrics in scouting and coding responsibilities.
- Analyze and strategize opponents
Marketing and Social Media Liaison
- Work alongside sports information to create a calendar of social media posts to attract both recruits and followers of the program.
- Create content for the program.
- Work with the marketing department on the plan and implementation of in-game entertainment.
Academic Liaison
- Connect with current athletes to ensure academic success.
- With the support of the academic advisor, communicate to the head coach potential travel conflicts and identify resources to provide the athletes.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- California driver’s license required within six weeks of hire date.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification required within six weeks of hire date.
- Required to be certified to recruit off-campus by USD Athletics Compliance Staff via NCAA rules education training within 6 weeks of hire date, and then each year before August 1st.
Special Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to travel for extended periods of time for athletic and recruiting events.
Background check: Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes.

| Job Requirements: |
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least one year of related volleyball experience required.
- Knowledge of the game is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with a Division I women’s volleyball program preferred.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of the NCAA, West Coast Conference and University of San Diego preferred.
Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, members of the University community, San Diego community, and all media.
- Possess good management skills.
- Ability to understand the goals and responsibilities of running a successful athletic program at the NCAA Division I level.
- Ability and desire to represent the University in a professional and responsible manner, excellent interpersonal skills.
- Adherence to and appreciation for NCAA/conference/league regulations and ability to instill those values in subordinates and students.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Scoutware, DataVolley, and Volleymetrics.

$5,858.67 - 6,000 per month; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
