Job Duties:

The University of San Diego seeks a Programmer Analyst in San Diego, CA to build data models, reports, dashboards, and analytics using knowledge of Cognos, Salesforce, and Workday. Modify seeded application reports as needed using Oracle Developer Suite 10g/11g toolset. Diagnose and resolve technical problems to provide the best solutions for the university. Diagnose performance issues using SQL trace technology as well as database Explain statements, analyzing output of these traces. Analyze user requirements document and consult with peers and business users as well as other contacts in the field to provide a well-researched solution using the integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP) technologies, such as Ellucian applications, Workday, Oracle, Salesforce, Banner Document Management Suite (BDMS), Portal, Operational Data Store (ODS)/Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Cognos Reporting, Workflow, and other smaller applications. Support and provide guidance for application upgrades by conducting testing of new changes as well as existing interfaces, including recommending improvements in processes. Manage assigned production issues. Ensure issues are properly identified, conduct analysis to determine root cause, design technical solution, develop testing strategy and production implementation. Supervise junior analysts and programmers as assigned. Stay current with technological trends, recommending and evaluating relevant software products. Telecommuting is permitted 5 days per week from anywhere in the U.S. Salary: $124,280 - $142,204/year.

 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Information Technology or Business Administration and one year (or a Bachelors degree and 5 years) of experience as a software developer. At least one year of experience is required in each of the following: (1) Cognos Analytics or Tableau; (2) Applying data warehousing and Business Intelligence concepts and using data modeling and reporting tools; (3) Using Oracle development tools including Oracle Developer Suite 10g/11g toolset, SQL Developer, and SQL; (4) Writing functions, packages, procedures, triggers, and views in Oracle PL/SQL for database development; (5) Cognos Installations, Configuration, Cognos Performance Tuning, Security settings, Cognos Troubleshooting, and Root cause analysis; (6) Development and implementation, including diagnosing and resolving technical problems; (7) Managing deployments and migrations of Cognos content across environments; (8) Working on IBM Cognos implementations and automated testing using Motio; (9) Utilizing at least one of the ETL Tools: Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Informatica, or SSIS; (10) Design and application tuning of relational databases of Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or Snowflake; (11) Handling and supporting patches and upgrades in a production environment; (12) Developing interfaces and integrations to migrate data between integrated systems in either on-premise or cloud-based; (13) User acceptance testing, data validation and documentation.
