This is a full-time temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2027. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.
The Program Coordinator will provide support to the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative's (SDRCC) programs, projects and research. The Program Coordinator will report to the Director and will be responsible for supporting SDRCC’s projects, programs and staff efforts that advance San Diego’s leadership in climate resilience solutions. The Program Coordinator will provide capacity needed to fulfill projects, contracts, and program commitments across SDRCC’s Resilience and Energy programs. The Coordinator will specifically provide capacity support to the growing portfolio of research projects including in extreme heat, coastal resilience, and community engagement. They will support SDRCC’s membership engagement by participating and providing staff support at core program events, workshops, and through other project-based outreach opportunities. The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative (SDRCC) advances climate change solutions and expertise across the San Diego Region. The University of San Diego serves as Fiscal Sponsor for the SDRCC which is currently housed in the Office of the Provost.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support Resilience and Energy Programs & Projects
- Provide Support to Resilience and Energy Programs and Projects: through development of work needed to fulfill projects, contracts and commitments specifically on equity, and community outreach best practices. Support the production of specific guidance and tools for regional resiliency activities and plans, such as white papers, one pagers, and multimedia content for the Energy & Resilience Programs as directed.
- Assist with Technical Data Research: Support work that elevates the use of new climate resilience tools and data deliverables; such as ESRI story maps, geospatial datasets, conducting and aggregating surveys, etc.
- Assist with Data Collection and Management: Support work that increases accessibility to climate education and data; such as supporting data collection and maintaining existing ESRI story maps, community driven datasets, membership surveys, etc. Collaborate regularly with Program Managers and Director to ensure QA/QC on research is completed correctly.
- Sustained Engagement & Outreach and Regional Dialogues: Participate in community climate and energy resilience dialogues specific to SDRCC projects and network needs, promote and share collaborative success stories, and leverage SDRCC research findings.
- Support Execution of Project Activities: Through coordinating workshops, and supporting project management needs such as: coordinating meeting scheduling, note taking, and presentation development and execution for core projects and programs including active working groups and advisory committees.
- Support Ongoing Programs, Contracts and Active Projects: Support the Director and Program Managers to ensure research and data-driven deliverables are completed in timely manner, coordinate with the Energy & Resilience Program Managers to maintain relationships and contact points with program partners to support mutually beneficial, ongoing relationships.
- Support SDRCC Communication as needed: Support the staff team by researching relevant climate and energy content for the newsletter, website, and other SDRCC communication and outreach materials, including social media and membership engagement.
Support SDRCC Administration
- Assists the Director to support administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, note taking, supplies inventory, procurement, and expense reports.
- Assists the Director and Staff with Meetings & Administrative Efforts: Assisting core programs, such as provide staff support at ongoing working groups, network meetings with note taking.
- Assist the Director and staff of the Climate Collaborative and the Advisory Board: supporting Board meetings, including through scheduling, creation of agendas, and note taking at meetings.

| Job Requirements: |
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a sustainability related field, environmental science, urban planning, public policy or related field required.
- 1 year minimum experience working in fields related to environment, energy, climate, sustainability, public policy, resilience planning
- Experience working with local cities and agencies, nonprofits and community groups
- Experience researching policy, climate and conducting academic literature reviews
- Sensitivity and demonstrated competence in working with diverse populations
- Strong written and communication skills
- GIS or digital mapping experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree in related field strongly preferred, graduate degree may substitute for 1-year of experience
- Background in quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, data synthesis and creating summary findings; experience with statistical software such as Microsoft Excel, R-Programming, SPSS or Python strongly preferred
- Experience analyzing data from publicly available government data sources strongly preferred
- Project management experience
- Professional fluency in Spanish

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
