The Manager, Law School Personnel Strategy & Administration is responsible for managing the execution of the law school personnel strategy initiatives of the Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration, the Law School Vice Dean and the Dean, School of Law and guiding the staffing-related processes for law school full-time benefits based and part-time personnel.  The Manager serves as a key administrative liaison between law school personnel, the law school Dean suite and the University’s HR department to best meet the personnel objectives of the University and fulfill the mission of the School of Law. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Law School Staff and Administrator Personnel Strategy & Support 

  • Performs a variety of HR liaison functions for law school staff and administrators to include:
  • Strategizing and brainstorming hiring solutions and alternatives to meet school staffing and business needs. 
  • Consulting and collaborating with leadership and managers on law school departmental reorganizations.  Provide recommendations and guidance on team structures, liaising with senior leaders as needed. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with University HR on confidential HR matters within the law school
  • Generating and maintaining reports on active staff/admin to ensure accurate and effective staffing levels;
  • Participating in interview panels for law school departments as appropriate
  • Assisting with applicant screenings for law school positions as appropriate
  • Overseeing the processes surrounding seamless and compliant recruitment, hiring and on-boarding of regular full-time and part-time staff and administrators.
  • Provide training, guidance, and assistance with the processes associated with contracting and terminating contingent workers
  • Provide training, guidance, and assistance with the processes associated with the hiring and terminating temporary staff positions
  • Manages the hiring and onboarding process for all LS undergraduate FWS clerical support positions, in coordination with the University Student Employment office.
  • Coordinating and assisting with the law school financial aid and careers offices regarding law school student hiring (FWS and non-FWS)
  • Assisting with law school graduate hiring initiatives within the law school 
  • Manage highly confidential information and materials with discretion and time sensitivity
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, responsible for guiding Law School personnel in handling human resources related functions to include creating new positions, replacing vacant positions, extending temporary positions and terminating positions.
  • Serves as the Law School’s subject matter expert in the use of Workday and PageUp as it relates to human resource related needs.

Law School Faculty Support & Administration 

  • Supervises Lead Faculty Assistant position (who in turn supervises faculty assistants)
  • Liaisons with Dean's office on any emerging faculty instructional needs 
  • Monitors and reports on Faculty Development budgets to the Dean’s office and individual faculty members
  • Assists Associate Dean of Faculty with tracking the Faculty Research budget including coordinating the mechanics of the Summer Research Grants
  • Develops onboarding and training guidelines and outreach to ensure smooth transitions and accuracy in faculty communications
  • Works with the Associate Dean of Faculty to ensure a seamless faculty hiring process through PageUp and Workday, including execution of contracts, moving support, and onboarding in a timely manner, etc.
  • Assists with the Research Assistant recruitment, hiring, timekeeping, retention and termination process, including advertising and onboarding RAs and with handling the administrative aspects of RA hiring, timekeeping, retention and termination.
  • Serve as \training lead for any new systems rolled out in law school (i.e. LDC Support for online courses and the Canvas roll-out)
  • Coordinates with Lead Faculty Assistant to advise faculty regarding relevant law school budgets, protocols and procedures.
  • Engages with senior leadership team regarding any law school personnel initiatives

Law School Professional Development Strategy & Administration 

  • Identifies and coordinates opportunities for law school professional development (i.e. Leadership lunch & learn initiatives per semester; Skill development and knowledge sharing that encourage interdepartmental collaboration and a positive workplace culture)
  • Executes professional development budgeting and helps identify professional development opportunities for law school staff/administrators
  • Strategizes and supports initiatives for staff and faculty community building within the law school (i.e. employee recognitions that show appreciation for their talent and work and end of semester celebrations/networking)
  • Liaisons with Dean's office and HR, as appropriate, on any emerging staff/administrator personnel concerns 
  • Manages Staff/Admin Town Hall meeting scheduling, Q&A requests and agendas for the Dean’s office

Law School Reporting & Administration 

  • Oversees the data coordination and collection for the U.S. World News & Report law school ranking reports
  • Overseas data coordination and collection for the ABA annual reports
  • Miscellaneous filing and record-keeping.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in business administration or higher education supporting faculty and/or staff. Graduate degree may substitute for one year of required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of supervisory experience required, two or more years preferred. 
  • Experience in human resources management is preferred.

  • Self-starter with good project management skills and the ability to exercise good judgment in advancing projects toward completion
  • Strong people-skills and the ability to work collaboratively; experience developing and executing strategies to create community within an organization is strongly desired
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including competency in spoken and written English grammar
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate an extremely high level of sensitivity to personnel issues and embrace a staff/faculty-centric philosophy
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, problem solving and decision-making
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently on projects with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, Gmail, Workday, PageUp and Concur.
  • Familiarity with learning management applications especially Canvas and/or Blackboard preferred.
  • Extremely high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to proactively communicate potential problems and new solutions for all aspects of personnel/staffing within the school.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information, maintain strict confidentiality, and exhibit good judgment in dealing with administrators, faculty, staff, students and external constituents.
Posting Salary:

$5,720 - 5,833.33 per month; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
