Detailed Description:

The University of San Diego (USD) Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering, Masters of Science Cybersecurity Engineering, seeks applicants for a full-time, on-campus, non-tenure-track teaching position teaching various cybersecurity courses and assisting the Academic Director in the program administration. The MS in Cybersecurity Engineering program is a designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense focused on a security system engineering approach. The curriculum is taught both on campus and entirely online.

The successful candidate will commit to teaching excellence.  The teaching load is typically three to four courses per semester (see typical schedule, depending on the agreed-upon contract period).  The position is responsible for updating and developing courses, curricula, and assessment methods; providing academic and career advisement to students; assisting in maintaining and upgrading Cybersecurity labs; and aiding curriculum marketing and recruitment efforts. The successful candidate is expected to participate in departmental, school, and college-wide committees, initiatives, and events and to keep abreast of technological, industry, and higher education trends affecting the curriculum, including participating in professional development activities and acquiring and maintaining industry certifications.

All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

        4. Contribute curriculum, time, and resources in support of the CAE Community as a whole
        5. Share expertise via a CAE Forum or Tech Talk.
  1. Support MS CSE program administration

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Qualified candidates should have:

  • A minimum of a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A working knowledge of Linux and Windows Server Environments, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, Penetration Testing, and Vulnerability Assessments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

The following are strongly preferred:

  • A PhD in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field. 
  • 5-10 years of professional and relevant experience
  • 5-10 years of teaching and research experience
  • Cloud development and security experience
  • Professional Certifications such as:
    • CISSP
    • CISM
    • OSCP
    • CeH
  • Ability to acquire a U.S. Government clearance
Posting Salary:

$70,000-$90,000/year; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
