Detailed Description:

This is a full-time temporary, benefit-based position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2025. The appointment is renewable at the discretion of the University and dependent upon performance and continued funding.

The Senior Coordinator of Industry and Employer Relations Coordinator is an integral member of the Knauss School of Business (KSB) and reports to the Senior Director of Industry and Employer Relations . The Senior Coordinator is responsible for implementing and managing key external engagement programs and initiatives that uncover career pathways and opportunities for Knauss School of Business students. This includes comprehensive coordination of programs that offer students direct exposure to diverse industries and organizations, including but not limited to the Industry Networking Mixer, Industry Panels, Employer and Alumni in Residence, Placement Palooza, Knauss Company Connections, Toreroships, Talent on Tap, Grad Job Expo and Hire San Diego.


In collaboration with the Senior Director of Industry and Employer Relations and Student Success Center team members, the Senior Coordinator oversees the maintenance and utilization of employer and alumni relations contact and management systems. Additionally, the Senior Coordinator contributes to the design and execution of employer engagement events and initiatives, ensuring seamless operations and impactful interactions between students, alumni, and industry partners.


The Senior Coordinator interacts with internal and external individuals; maintains relations with alumni and employers; supports the Senior Director in developing new relations with community contacts and prospective employers; and works in conjunction with various campus partners to achieve departmental goals. The Senior Coordinator will also assist with travel scheduling, expense reports, event budgets, catering orders, and reporting. The Senior Coordinator must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask during busy times in the office. This position requires work some evenings and weekends to accommodate the schedules of various student classes, co/extracurricular activities, and special events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination and Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior Director, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and expense reconciliation.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and monitor expenditures for programs and events.
  • Manage and execute operational, logistics, and implementation activities for events with the highest level of professionalism and excellence in keeping with the University’s brand and reputation.
  • Market and support the planning and execution of co/extracurricular and experiential learning events, programs and experiences.
  • Develop and track event registration, disseminate event communications to Professional Development Managers for distribution to students, and coordinate reminders as well as post-event follow-up messages.
  • Support and contribute to special program/event development for other major University-wide events.
  • Coordinates logistics for on- and/or off-campus recruitment events, and participates in planning, employer relations, student marketing, event execution, and post-event evaluation.
  • Assist in developing and executing programs that connect students with industry professionals.
  • Coordinate logistics for career fairs, on-campus recruitment events, and employer informational sessions.
  • Manage scheduling and planning of networking events, industry conferences, and site visits.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of day-to-day activities within the Industry and Employer Relations team.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to promote events and programs to students and employers.
  • Utilize student workers to complete ad hoc projects, providing guidance and oversight to ensure project success.
  • Coordinates student and alumni involvement for extracurricular programming as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Specialist and other SSC coordinators to organize and run SSC team events and projects.
  • Assist with on-site setup, implementation and breakdown of events.

Relationship Management:

  • Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholder groups seeking information on employer recruitment efforts, including Employer Information Sessions, Job Postings, Recruitment Events, Company Visits, Toreroships, and other related professional development programs and services.
  • Maintain and update a comprehensive database of employer and alumni contacts.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with industry partners to expand internship and job placement opportunities for students.
  • Assist employers with account registration, job and internship postings in Handshake and 12twenty.
  • Reviews and approves online job, internship and event posting process in 12twenty to ensure all postings adhere to Knauss School of Business recruitment policies.
  • Support the development of new employer partnerships and maintain ongoing communication with existing partners.
  • Support industry and employer relation initiatives with logistical coordination for employer, alumni and professional development events including but not limited to: communications, registration, parking, room/space reservations, and day of event logistics.
  • Coordinate the logistics of student meetings with employers and alumni including scheduling, room reservation/coordination, communications, and other tasks associated with professional development events.
  • Manage and execute the logistics associated with hosting employers and alumni on-campus (or virtually) for programming events including but not limited to: panels, speaker series, tabling sessions, information sessions, and workshops.
  • Coordinate logistics for employer/alumni initiatives including job shadow or other programs designed to facilitate touch-points between students and employers/alumni.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Professional Development (and their respective team members) to provide event coordination support with employer related programming in alignment with the priorities of the employer relations team.
  • Respond to inquiries (phone/email/in-person) from employer and alumni partners.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing/Communications and Professional Development teams to equip them with relevant employment and alumni data and information to elevate employer engagement and activity.

Communication and Marketing:

  • In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team:
    • Prepare and disseminate promotional materials, including newsletters, social media posts, and event invitations.
    • Assist in the development of content for the Industry and Employer Relations webpage and ensure it is up to date.
    • Utilize social media and other digital platforms to enhance employer engagement and student participation.

Data Collection and Reporting:

  • Assist Senior Director with programming and other initiatives by conducting research, compiling data, and preparing reports and documentation.
  • Support the research, identification, cultivation and solicitation of employer and alumni involvement with KSB programs and initiatives.
  • Prepare registration forms and surveys and track responses.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. A high school diploma and two additional years of work experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree, at the rate of one year of work experience is equivalent to two years of education.
  • Two years of administrative or customer service work experience in a business environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in supporting student services in an academic program and/or advising students in a higher education institution.

Performance Expectations - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with database maintenance preferred.
  • Experience working with web-based technologies, specifically Google Docs, Handshake, 12twenty, Canva, Salesforce and/or Qualtrics preferred.
  • Experience working in a university environment preferred.

  • Ability to work with students and faculty, as well as business executives outside the campus community.

Posting Salary:

$29.50 - $32.00 per hour; Excellent Benefits

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
