The College of Arts and Sciences at the University of San Diego invites applications for part-time lecturer positions to meet periodic instructional needs across the College. We seek qualified instructors with expertise in one or more disciplines within the Humanities (English, History, Languages, Cultures, and Literatures, Philosophy, and Theology and Religious Studies) who are prepared to teach courses in their area(s) of specialization. Course modality is exclusively in-person.

Teaching assignments are made based on departmental and program needs and may vary by semester. Courses generally carry 2-5 units of teaching credit, and part-time lecturers in non-benefits-based appointments may teach a maximum of 6 units per semester. The College periodically has instructional needs during the following academic terms: Fall: September-December, and Spring: Late January-May.

Appointment to the lecturer pool does not guarantee a teaching assignment. Course assignments are contingent upon instructional needs, enrollment, funding, and the qualifications and expertise required for individual courses. Appointments and teaching assignments are subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement between the University of San Diego and SEIU Local 721.
