Detailed Description:

The Credential Analyst and Coordinator of Assessment for the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES), under the general direction/supervision of the Director of Assessment and Accreditation, is responsible for assisting the Senior Credential Analyst in the auditing, reviewing, analyzing, evaluating, processing, and tracking of School Counseling and Teacher credential candidates for the purpose of recommending candidates for Pupil Personnel Service, Intern, and Preliminary Teaching Credentials. The Credential Analyst and Coordinator of Assessment supports the licensure processes for students in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. They support students by providing advising services related to credential and licensure requirements.

The Credential Analyst and Coordinator of Assessment works with the Senior Credential Analyst and the Director of Assessment and Accreditation to provide current information to students, staff, and members of the faculty on matters regarding State credential requirements and University policies and procedures. The Credential Analyst and Coordinator of Assessment uses professional judgment, proactively identifies student issues, and makes suggestions for resolutions. They will work with the Senior Credential Analyst to conduct presentations to current and prospective students, meet with students on a regular basis in both individual and group settings, and assist in ensuring the website is up-to-date and conveying accurate information related to credential and licensure requirements.

The Credential Analyst and Coordinator of Assessment will support the Director of Assessment and Accreditation in processes related to course evaluations, surveys, data collection, reporting, accreditation efforts and other special projects and administrative tasks as assigned. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Advising, Outreach, and Communication 

  • Serve as an advisor to students regarding credential, licensure and academic requirements for their program by providing information, pathways, and criteria for earning their degree, credential or license 
  • Meet with students regularly in person, via Zoom, or phone.
  • Conduct individual and group advising sessions.
  • Utilize Tevera and Salesforce (and other technology as directed) to collect and track records and communicate with students. 
  • Maintain open and clear communication and support the Department of Learning and Teaching and the Department of Counseling and Marital and Family Therapy in all aspects of credential and licensure processes.
  • Utilize Banner to record candidate credential recommendations.
  • Provide data to members of the Assessment and Accreditation office as requested. 
  • Attend open houses and/or information sessions to present information related to credential and licensure requirements. 
  • Assist in keeping Teaching Credential and Pupil Personnel Services handbooks, forms, and other documents current. 
  • Promptly respond to student inquiries and requests via Email and Tevera 
  • Anticipate student needs and issues and act swiftly and proactively to resolve them. 
  • Support the department in maintenance of MOUs with partnership schools as directed by the Director of Assessment and Accreditation

Credential Analyst

  • Request, collect, analyze, evaluate, and process documents for the purpose of School Counselor, Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and Teacher Candidate field placement, practicum, student teaching, and recommendation for credential(s) and/or licensure. 
  • Conduct analyses of transcripts, test scores, etc. for credential process purposes in accordance with CTC regulations
  • Stay abreast of CTC regulations and guidelines pertaining to teacher and school counselor credentialing and keep informed the other members of the department and faculty as directed. 
  • Recommend teacher and school counselor candidates for Preliminary Teaching Credentials and Pupil Personnel Services credentials, respectively.
  • Support the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program in document collection and tracking for Licensure as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) candidates, coordination and tracking of NBCC exams, and assist in management of practicum and internship requirements.

Assessment

  • Facilitation of Course Evaluation process (launch, reporting, troubleshooting issues, etc.) each semester.
  • Coordination of ad hoc and recurring surveys.
  • Support Director of Assessment and Accreditation in data and resource collection related to surveys, national/work rankings submissions, program assessment data, accreditation efforts and other continuous improvement processes.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Able to work early mornings, evenings and weekends (on and off campus) when necessary.

Background check:  Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

Degree Verification Requirement: Persons offered employment in this position will be required to provide official education transcripts for degree verification purposes. 

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three years of professional work experience in a similar or related position required. A Master’s degree may substitute for one year of work experience, at the rate of two years of education is equivalent to one year of work experience.
  • Previous experience in data collection and analysis required.
  • Experience working with and appreciation of diverse student populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Previous experience as a Credential Analyst or equivalent experience working with teacher candidates and/or CTC
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with California credentialing regulations
  • Understanding of K-12 or experience within school environment and/or teacher preparation programs
  • Experience in survey and/or evaluation administration. 
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with the requirements for Licensure as Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and knowledge of and/or experience with the requirements for the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) requirements and processes. 
  • Public speaking skills and experience

  • Proficient in data collection and analysis
  • Proven ability to create and maintain organized record keeping and tracking systems 
  • High proficiency with technology such as, Microsoft Suites, Google Suite, Salesforce, CRM, Banner, Tevera, etc. and willingness to adapt and learn new technologies as directed.
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously • Proficient in creating reports and data visuals

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position.  Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
