Department Description: |
The electrical engineering department at USD is part of the Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering (SMSE), which is ranked by U.S. News in the top 15 of non-doctoral engineering schools. The department offers undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering and consists of faculty who are devoted, challenging and inspiring students to learn the technical skills in electronics, power and communications. The mission of the school is to provide graduates with the perspective, social awareness and leadership skills necessary for becoming change making engineers. The department intends to develop a new degree program in Computer Engineering in the future.

Detailed Description: |
The Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of San Diego (USD) invites applications for a nine-month contract instructor position to provide in person teaching to begin September 1, 2022. There is a possibility of a renewal of the contract after the first year. This position is a full benefits-based position and requires face to face student instruction.
Candidates from all areas of specialization will be considered. Immediate instructional needs include but are not limited to: electromechanical systems, circuits, electronics, embedded systems, electrical power, digital design, signals and systems, electromagnetics, microwave engineering and communications. In addition to some of these areas, the department is also interested in candidates who have a background or interest in semiconductors.

Job Requirements: |
Successful candidates will be required to have at least one of the following:
A master’s degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field at the time of employment OR A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or closely related field and at least eight years of relevant industry experience
A PhD in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
