Detailed Description:
 

The Department of Sociology at the University of San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2020.  The department is seeking a sociologist for hire at the assistant-level rank, with expertise in the following areas: emphasis on law/crime/justice and social justice; race/ethnicity scholar; quantitative methods (preferred). Other areas for consideration include: comparative local/transnational, intersectional, and expertise in line with our departmental concentrations.  Must have Ph.D. in hand by start date.

The University of San Diego is strongly committed to a “teacher-scholar” model, and, therefore, only candidates with evidence of superior teaching and an active research agenda will be considered for the position.  The undergraduate teaching load is three courses per semester and tenure-track faculty advise and mentor students. Service to the university, department, and a commitment to public sociology is expected of all tenure-track faculty.

Job Requirements:

A PhD is required at the time of appointment.
