Detailed Description:

The Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISyE) Department at the University of San Diego is seeking adjunct faculty candidates to teach various courses during Fall 2019 semester, with potential contract renewal into Spring 2020 and following academic years.

Specific responsibilities include

• Teaching one or more of the following courses: ISYE 305, ISYE 330, ISYE 470 (course descriptions are included below).

• Working with the ISyE chair and faculty to improve instructional materials and class activities to enhance student's learning outcomes and engagement.

• Collecting relevant course data for ABET accreditation and course improvement purposes.

Course descriptions:

ISYE 305 - Professional Practice: Development of skills and knowledge needed to successfully manage projects in ISyE. Topics include project management, teamwork, the role of ISyE in an organization, career planning, formal memo writing, oral and written reports incorporating peer review, iterative drafting techniques, and formal final multimedia presentation incorporating peer review.

ISYE 330 – Engineering Probability and Statistics: Introduction to probability and applied statistics within an engineering context. Topics include probability, discrete and continuous probability distributions, and statistical tests and confidence intervals for one and two samples.

ISYE 470 - Facilities Planning: Analysis and design of production and service facilities. Analytical and computer-based techniques to assist with strategic planning, process design, material handling and flow, layout and facility location.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:  
• A Bachelor's degree in engineering (ISyE is preferred) or a related field, and a Master's degree in any field.

• A strong interest in teaching undergraduate-level courses. Prior teaching experience is highly preferred.

• Relevant industry experience.

Posting Salary:

Per university part-time faculty compensation rates.
