Detailed Description:

The Department of Electrical Engineering (ELEC) at the University of San Diego (USD) is seeking candidates for adjunct faculty positions to teach a variety of courses during the Spring 2021 semester (January 25 – May 19), with potential contract renewals encompassing subsequent semesters.

Description of Courses:

ENGR 102 – Electromechanical System Design (Lecture notes & projects available):

Introduction to the use of sensors, actuators, controllers, and computer interfaces in conjunction with electro-mechanical systems. Application of the engineering design process culminating in a team-based design project. Three hours weekly (Every Spring & Fall).

 

ELEC 201 – Electrical Circuits (Lab experiments available; lecture notes NOT available):

Electrical element physical behavior and component models; network laws and analysis techniques; time and frequency domain techniques for the analysis of linear networks; computer-aided analysis using SPICE or approved equivalent; introduction to AC power; laboratory circuit design, testing, and verification. Three-hour lectures and one three-hour laboratory weekly (Every Spring & Fall).

 

ELEC 350 – Signals and Systems (Lecture notes NOT available):

Mathematical modeling of physical systems; methods of analysis for linear, time-invariant systems; time-domain and frequency-domain analysis; Fourier series; Laplace and Fourier transform methods of analysis; sate variable representation; sampling theorem; simulation diagrams; introduction to discrete-time approximations and analysis; computer-aided analysis and simulation using MATLAB. Three-hour lectures every week (Every Spring).

 

ELEC 494 – Special Topics in Electrical Engineering (Lecture notes NOT available):

Special topics seminar in areas of special interest to electrical/electronics/computer engineering. This is a Technical Elective Course. Three hours weekly (Every Spring & Fall). 
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with a Master’s Degree in any field, including some industrial experience
  • Strong interest in engineering undergraduate teaching, with prior experience.
  • Willingness to work and collaborate with the Electrical Engineering Department Chair and Faculty to improve the electrical engineering program, including collection of course-related data/material for ABET accreditation purposes.

Consistent with the university's part-time faculty compensation rates.
